There has been a renewed interest in genealogy in recent years. With the advent of the Internet and searchable databases, everyone can be an amature genealogist. There are many ways for the beginner to learn the basics in genealogy. There are online classes, adult education classes, even television shows. Unfortunately, many people start out with no instruction, "it's just a hobby, something for fun, it's not that important." This lack of instruction lasts up until the first time you try to find the source you used to prove Great Grandmother Alice was related to a Rockefeller.
